Four years after receiving our Certificate of Registration as a Community Based Organization in October 2020, members gathered for our fourth Annual General Meeting to take stock of how far the organization had come from its original, informal footbridge-repair roots.
The meeting reviewed a year that had included the launch of the school feeding program at Gituamba Primary, continued growth of the original table banking group into a second and third circle, and the first formally organized tree-planting exercise along the stream banks, activities that had grown organically rather than from a single master plan.
Members noted, in discussion, that the organization's work had become harder to describe simply as it grew more varied, a concern that directly shaped the following month's decision to formally organize activities into five clear program pillars, described in our January 2025 update.
“Every year at this meeting we realize we did more than we planned and less than we hoped, which I think is exactly the sign of a community organization that is actually listening and responding to real needs as they come up.”
— Long-serving committee member
Financial and activity reporting for the year was shared with members present, alongside a reminder of our constitution's provisions for office bearer terms and the process for raising concerns or proposals ahead of future meetings.
This meeting is one of several early milestones that shaped the more structured organization you see reflected in our program pages today.
