Gituamba Bridge Kasarani C.B.O. held its fifth Annual General Meeting in December, bringing together registered members, program volunteers, and representatives from partner institutions including the Sub-County Social Development office and Gituamba Primary School.
The meeting opened with a review of the year's five program pillars: infrastructure advocacy around the footbridge, the girls' mentorship circle and school feeding program under education, the riparian cleanup and tree planting exercises under environment, the table banking network under women's economic empowerment, and the health screening camp and under-15 football league under health and community wellbeing.
Members elected two new committee members this cycle, a treasurer with a background in community banking and a program officer to help coordinate the growing table banking network, alongside re-electing existing office bearers for a further two-year term as provided for in our constitution.
“Five years ago we were eleven people with an idea and a certificate. Today we are running five programs across four sectors with volunteers we did not know a year ago. That growth is the whole reason this organization exists.”
— Founding member, speaking at the AGM
Financial reporting for the year showed total program spending of just under KSh 1.1 million, funded through member contributions, small individual donations, and in-kind support such as donated materials and volunteer time, with a full breakdown available to members and partners on request.
Priorities agreed for 2026 include expanding the school feeding program to a second school, formalizing a partnership with the county for quarterly stream cleanups, and beginning the process of applying for expanded fundraising channels, including this website, to reach supporters beyond Gituamba.
