Emergency handrail repair keeps the Gituamba footbridge open through the long rains
Volunteers and county artisans replaced 14 meters of corroded handrail on the footbridge that links Gituamba to Kasarani town, ahead of the August rains.
Gituamba Bridge Kasarani C.B.O. is a registered nonprofit Community Based Organization (Reg. No. KAS/CBO/5/4/2020/741) working across education, environment, women's economic empowerment, health and infrastructure — starting with the footbridge that gave us our name.
Registered with the Department of Social Development in October 2020, we organize volunteer-led programs around the problems residents raise directly — from a footbridge in disrepair to girls missing school and women locked out of credit.
Advocacy, informal repairs, and petitions to keep the Gituamba–Kasarani footbridge and its approach path safe for daily use.
